William A. Suys
Bill Suys began his professional career in the art department at SC Johnson Wax. Though he climbed the corporate ladder and eventually left to pursue painting full-time, he credits the company with helping him build a firm foundation for personal and professional excellence.
Today, Bill is a world-class artist whose paintings and commissioned portraits have been selected to hang in major national and international shows and exhibitions such as the Art Renewal Center International Salon, the Salon International at the International Museum of Masters of Contemporary Fine Art, and the Portrait Society of America.
In 2013, Suys won “Best in Show” at the Salon International, and in 2012 was awarded Signature Status by the Oil Painters of America, where his work has now been chosen to hang in five straight OPA National Exhibitions as well as the 2014 and 2012 OPA Eastern Regional Exhibitions. Also in 2013, Suys was a dual finalist in the ARC Salon (in both the Figurative and Imaginative Realism categories). Notable for collectors of Suys’s animal paintings is his First Place win at Richeson’s 2012 Animals, Birds & Wildlife competition for his piece “Curious Calf,” where he was also a triple finalist. Bill received a president’s appointment to New York’s venerable Salmagundi Club and has studied with numerous renowned painters. Suys’s subject matter is primarily figurative and ranges from his recent gallery shows featuring “People and Other Animals” to landscape and architecture, still life, and series paintings which follow central conceptual themes. Bill Suys and wife Kristin live in Wisconsin’s picturesque Lake Country. The couple has four grown children and recently welcomed their first grandchild.
