Aleksander Titovets

Born in Siberia and educated in St. Petersburg Russia, earning his Master in Fine Arts with Summa Cum Laude. Aleksander became the youngest elected member of the USSR Artists Union and worked as assistant professor in The Department of Oil Painting, before coming to the United States in 1992.

He has had great success and recognition, achieving more than anybody could have ever predicted. Aleksander’s work has been displayed and won numerous awards including The National Academy of Design, N.Y. and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society competitions in Missouri, Arizona and New Mexico. As well as “Salon D’Arts” at the Colorado History Museum. In 1998 he won the “Artists Choice Award” at the “Artists of America”, in Denver. He also won Best of Show at the International Fine Art Competition four years in a row, winning first place for five more years! He was a guest artist, in the “Great American Artists”, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and at the “Miniatures” in the Albuquerque Art Museum, at the “Inquisitive Eyes” in El Paso Museum of Art. His paintings were a part of Altermann and Morris galleries Auctions in Santa Fe and Dallas and at the “Best of Landscapes” organized by the “Waterhouse Gallery” in Santa Barbara and “Texas Masters” by “Insights Gallery”, Fredericksburg. Works are also part of the “Art in US Embassies” program. His Portrait of the First Lady opens a new First Ladies Gallery in The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.

In 2010 he was inducted into the “EL Paso Artists Hall of Fame” by International Museum of Art. In 2014 a retrospective exhibit entitled A.Titovets Past and Present was presented in the El Paso Museum of Art.

His art featured in “The Best of the Portrait Paintings” published by North Light Books and in “Desert Modern and Beyond: El Paso Art 1960-2012”. He is one of a selected artist for a book entitled “Sketch Confidential, Secrets of 40 Master Artists”.

His name appeared on the pages of “International Artist” magazine, which named him America’s leading impressionistic painter, in “American Art Collector”, “Western Art”, “Art-Talk“, “Art and Antique” and many others. In “Art of the West” Aleksander was recognized among top ten artists of America for his exceptional color harmony in the article titled “Color Magicians”

Titovets paintings are shown from coast to coast, in Carmel, California; Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Ruidoso and Las Cruses, New Mexico; Austin and Fredericksburg, Texas; as well as Charleston, South Carolina.

His works are in public and private collections worldwide, including “Proctor and Gamble“, “Helen of Troy” corporations; headquarters of “Hunt” and “International Data” companies; Federal Court Portrait collection in Austin, Texas; University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas; El Paso Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. The list includes actress Sophia Loren and The King of Spain: His Majesty Juan Carlos, Sam Walton’s family, CEO of Canada Bell, Smucker’s family and others.

Aleksander has been guest speaker, art teacher, and juror. His work springs from the fundamental training in the classical Russian school of painting together with his enthusiasm, comprehension, and passion for great art.

He finds his inspiration in memories of his homeland, the harmonious surrounding of Southwest and in the work of the old masters Titian and Velazquez.
